praise for "watch the throne"

murder to excellence (lyrics)

Murder To Excellence lyrics

(Jay-Z)
Bloody Murder, murder murder (x4)

(Kanye West)
The paper read murder, Black on black murder
The paper read murder, Black on black murder

(Jay-Z)
This is to the memory of Danroy Henry
Too much enemy fire to catch a friendly
Strays from the same shade, Ni**a we on the same team
Giving you respect, I expect the same thing
All black everything, Ni**a you know my fresh code
I’m out here fightin’ for you, Don’t increase my stress load
Ni**as watchin’ the throne, Very happy to be
Power to the people, When you see me, see you

(Kanye West)
And I’m from the murder capital, Where they murder for capital
Heard about at least 3 killings this afternoon
Lookin’ at the news like damn I was just with him after school,
No shop class but half the school got a tool,
And I could die any day type attitude
Plus his little brother got shot reppin’ his avenue
It’s time for us to stop and re-define black power
41 souls murdered in 50 hours

The paper read murder, Black on black murder,
The paper read murder, Black on black murder again
Murder again…

Is it genocide?
Cause I can still hear his momma cry, Know the family traumatized
Shots left holes in his face, Bout piranha-size
The old pastor closed the cold casket
And said the church ain’t got enough room for all the tombs
It’s a war going on outside we ain’t safe from
I feel the pain in my city wherever I go
314 soldiers died in Iraq
509 died in Chicago

(Jay-Z)
I arrived on the day Fred Hampton died
Real niggas just multiply
And they say 21 I was supposed to die
So I’m out here celebratin’ my post demise
If you put crabs in a barrel to insure your survival
You gon’ end up pulling down niggas that look just like you
What up blood? What up cuz?
It’s all black, I love us

(Kanye West)
The paper read murder, Black on black murder again

(Jay-Z)
It’s a celebration of black excellence
Black tie, black Maybachs
Black excellence, opulence, decadence
Tuxes next to the president, I’m present
I dress in Dries and other boutique stores in Paris
In sheepskin coats, I silence the lamb
Do you know who I am Clarice?
No cheap cologne whenever I “shh-shh”
Success never smelled so sweet, I stink of success
The new black elite They say my black card bear the mark of the beast
I repeat, My religion is the beat
My verse is like church, My Jesus piece Now please, domino, domino
Only spot a few blacks the higher I go
What’s up to Will, Shoutout to O
That ain’t enough, We gon need a million more
Kick in the door, Biggie flow
I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go

(Kanye West)
Yea it’s all messed up when it’s nowhere to go
So we won’t take the time out til we reach the T O P
From paroles to hold G’s, sold keys, low keys
We like the promised land of the OG’s
In the past if you picture events like a black tie
What the last thing you expect to see, black guys
What’s the life expectancy for black guys?
The system’s working effectively, that’s why
I’ll be a real man and take care of your son
Every problem you had before this day is now done
New crib, watch a movie
Cause ain’t nothin on the news but the blues
Hit the mall, pick up some Gucci
Now ain’t nothin new but your shoes
Sunday morning, Praise the Lord
You the girl that Jesus had been saving me for
So let’s savor this moment, And take it to the floor
Black excellence, Truly yours

a few words from the world of art: photography

"an artists eye will often be arrested where ordinary people see nothing remarkable. a casual gleam of sunshine, or shadow thrown accross his path, a time-withered oak, or a moss-covered stone may awaken a train of thoughts and feelings, and picturesque images"
-william henry fox talbot
i love this quote. it is the opening to talbots book "the pencil of nature". this is exactly how i feel about being an artist. often people wont understand your piece or why things are considered art but its that vision we have for looking at ordinary things with an extraordinary eye.

into the wild

the two short poems in the begginning of the movie "into the wild". i loved it so much i thought id share em with everyone. enjoy!

by alexander supertramp
two years, he walks the earth.
no phone, no pool, no pets, no ciggarettes.
ultimate freedom.
an extremist. an aesthetic voyager whos home is the road.
so now, after two ramblig years, comes the final and greatest adventure
the climactic battle to kill the false being within,
victoriously conclude the spiritual revolution,.
no longer to be poisoned by civilization,
he flees, and walks alone upon the land to become lost in the wild

(those who know me best know i closely identify with this guy. im longing to be freed. i need an escape!)

I go back to may (1937)
by sharon olds

i see them standing at the formal gates of their colleges
i see my father strolling out
under the ochur sandstone arch, the
red tiles glinting like bent
plates of blood behind his head, i
see my mother with a few light books at her hip
standing at the pillar made of tiny bricks,
the wrought- iron gate still open behind her, its
sword-tips aglow in the may air,
they are about to graduate, they are about to get married,
they are kids, they are dumb, all they know is they are
innocent, they would never hurt anybody.
i want to go up to them and say Stop,
dont do it--shes the wrong woman,
hes the wrong man, you are going to do things
you cannot imagine you would ever do,
you are going to do bad things to children,
you are going to suffer in ways you have not heard of,
you are going to want to die. i want to go
up to them there in he late may sunlight and say it,
her hungry pretty face turning to me,
her pitiful beautiful untouched body
but i dont do it. i want to live, i
take them up like the male and female
paper dolls and bang them together
at the hips, like chips of flint, as if to
strike sparks from them, i say
do what you are going to do, and i will tell about it.

the entire second half of the poem really resonates with me.

loving spring!

poem by the homie RIP!

She deserved to be kissed.
Held.
Made love to.
But her hearts on the floor.
Next to her shirt.
And her underwear.

She's my friend.
Together we are.
Two fallen Angels.
Tip-toe-ing our way through God's back door.
Hiding out in Heaven.
For this moment.
- RIPMC

LOVE this poem. It really is a reflection of the chaos which is my current love life. Oddly enough im content.

lets try: writing haikus!

The deafening blow
Eerily fell upon me
An epic knockout

You know whats constant
The defeat of enemies
They fall silently

My song sounds like breeze
Tastes tough like earthly gravel
Come have a listen

The scent of hot sex
Laced with a hint of red wine
Enter my bedroom

Paint me in bright hughes
Paint me in technicolor
Great, now tear me down

When I first tried one it took me awhile. Then after that all the ideas started to flow. They came so fast that I didnt have a chance to get them all down. I like this style. Sitting in on Leigh's class actually lead to me learning to appreciate them. She also sparked the idea of combining a bunch and transforming them into stanzas in a poem. This is just the beginning. there is more to come!

JR street artist and TED PRIZE winner

i just loved this. i would want to do this! i first came across him reading GOOD magazine(a magazine for people who give a damn), the article was cool but when i stubled upon him just surfing google images i found out just how much of a hero he is. im just so amazed at how he impacted so many folks and traveled and that the communities embraced him. and the whole conflict with the middle east. im sure he is using his art to spread awareness that they shouldnt hate eachother. BRAVO

the kiosk

the kiosk is a little hole in the wall joint on spring street. lots of very edgy spay paint art going on in the hallways. not the obnoxious kind (like something cool done by an artist) when i walked by i thought it was a club of some sort. i asked a neighbor and she encouraged me to check it out. it is a store. a girl goes traveling and brings things back for the different countries shes been to. she sets it up like an exhibition. classifying each collection by country. the assortment ranged from candy to cooking utensils. they were everyday items that looked exotic and foreign in some way. i may return and purchase some of the funky little nicknacks.

pinkberry, my new happy food : )

i went to a pinkberry for the first time today! it was a bright colorful chic little spot. they sell nothing but frozen yogurt. i would compare to jamba juice prices(another spot i just love) after checking out my favorite art gallery, i stopped in. i tried the small original. it comes with your choice of toppings(as long as it fits in the cup). i chose peices of mango, pineapple, kiwi, raspberries and some honey. it was delish!

helmut newton is my new love!!!!!!!!!!!!

so, i went to the MOMA museum of design today and i just couldnt walk past this book. it is his latest, entitled Sumo. it was huge and it was heavy! it was fanFUCKINGtastic. i came upon it once before at stand bookstore on 14th street. i was rushing and didn't have much time to look through it. but today i did. it was the most intriguing collection of dressed and nude photos i've ever seen. all the work was so cohesive. many of the works were in black and white and each photo expressed a tasteful sexiness. take a look...

how many is too many?

i am recently out of a relationship. i want to move on and date for awhile in hopes that i find the one want to share the rest of my life with. at first i was very hopful and excited about this new lifestyle that im embracing. then it just came to me, ive have sex with a few guys. where do i draw the line. im not gonna specify how many(and i do know how many) but i think on my quest for Mr. Right i will have to go through a few more guys until i find the one that can satisfy me on all levels.

should i limit myself to a specific number and if i cant find what i want, just settle

or should i just follow my heart and not look at these guys as a number, but another step closer to my ideal mate?
i guess im not the reason this is on my mind. i remember when this topic came up with my last boyfriend, even with the short list of bed buddies i had, it still didnt seem to sit well with him. who knows maybe no guy wants to believe the woman they are with used to feel the same way wit someone else. or, like my friend said yesterday it just starts to lose its value after a certain number. idk how i feel about that one. its probably just the way guys think with their double standards.
well i have lots of time to think about this. im just gonna be dating for a while and hopefully i can figure this out.
