Keith Haring

I recently saw Haring's work at the Brooklyn Museum. I had always been able to identify his work but never known much about him or his art creating process. Firstly I never knew he was white. I'm not racist but always considered him to be black for some reason. He was gay and died from AIDS. I know several people who have died from AIDS. I think its great that before he went he made such a positive mark on the world. He did performance art. The concept I enjoyed most was him paining himself in a corner. He painted swiftly to the rhythm of the music he played. He explored linguistics, poetry and other mediums. Also for display were the journals he kept. He went from street art to curated exhibitions and he was proactive in creating a platform for others to showcase their work. Reoccurring images are the human figures, dogs, dolphins, birds, spaceships, penises, pyramids, radio and the nuclear reactor. He uses crooked lines to convey motion.

My Wife, Naked, Watching Her Own Body

I stumbled across this image in Allure magazine. I simply adore the work of Salvador Dali.

What is Sexy and Intellegent, All in One?

My sister treated my mother, my niece and me to a Broadway night out. she told me it was to see A Streetcar Named Desire, I said "ok", vaguely remembering checking the book out of the library a few years ago. Once we arrived I saw pictures of the cast and nearly fainted. I respect the work of each of the actors and was eager to see the performance. they did not disappoint to say the least (although some part of me wanted to see a musical number) I was engaged throughout the show. Not only by their good looks but they managed to embody the characters they portrayed, from accent and vernacular to the timeless wardrobe and body language. It was about a women who tried to run away from her past, but inevitably it caught up to her. The show was sexy and thoughtful. Raising such themes as, domestic violence, promiscuity, sexism, alcoholism, rumors, insanity and relationships.

Time to Get Your Mind Right

I'm currently reading How to Get Out of Your Own Way by Tyrese Gibson. Its a good read, I stand behind this 1. I admit I did begin reading it because I wanted to see if it would be some gossip filled, widow into his private life. I was shocked when he schooled me on numerous ways I was sabotaging myself, including but not limited to how I communicated with my daughters father, how I let peoples opinions discourage me, how I didn't set my standards for myself high enough, making light of my accomplishments and not effectively networking.
